The Hub| The Haunt

Walking the maintained streets of the Hub, Crow cant help but admire the discipline needed on the beurocratic level. "It would be all to easy to line ones pockets
with the janitorial budget"
His green eyes, hooded by his helmet, looked past the crowds of milling people going about their futile affairs. They saught the city skyline, with its many
hard edges, for a particular outline. There, aloof in the heart of the city, stood the Haunt. Its presence imposing a measure of strained tranquility on those forced to walk near its gates.
Crows stops to take in the scene. Letting his every sense be bathed in the atmosphere of it.
Content, Crow walks towards the iron gate. Pressing a button on the gate he waits. "With how uptight Lahz was, Id imagine he knew i was here as i breathed their air."

As Crow approaches the Haunt's perimeter gate it begins to swing open revealing inside a D-bee a bit shorter than Orrucks clad in Juicer armor with hands large enough to palm a human head, neck, and a bit more, "Oh hey, you must be the new guy that Ace mentioned. If you walk up the drive/path here ... you'll get to the front. Stay on the path for now, I think Lahz added you to the patrol drones' friendly list so they shouldn't shoot you, but the lawn gets frakked up when people wander and set off the minefield. I was heading out but ... You'll need a senior member to walk you through and individually intro you to the security ... nevermind come on let's get you set up."

A yawn from the fellow follows and he turns to lead Crow up to the Haunt, "I am Sir Thorfinn Skullsplitter, Thorn, I was one of the founding members. I dont go out on team missions as much these days ... Have been handling some solo smaller jobs." As Crow follows a blade roughly 4 times the size/weight of Crow's-very-own Named-blade can be seen sheathed over 1 shoulder, it mirrors the Mystic Knight's. As the pair approach the Haunt's front steps Thorn waves at and armor-clad fellow by the front door, "This is Crow? ... He has member access on floors 1-6, and the grounds. Crow? This is one of our golems ... they're like magic robots to supplement the droids. You can't give him orders yet, but at least now you wont be attacked on-sight ..." The Cyberknight will (ostensibly) then show Crow around the Haunt and introduce him to each individual Golem on patrol, eventually showing him to an empty room and saying "Ok, I think this is you. I am going into town."

Crow gives a short bow to Sir Thorn. "A pleasure, I'm sure." Shouldering his small bag of personal items, Crow follows the imposing knight through the compound, snatching glimpses of Thorns massive blade when he thinks he's not looking.
"Impressive, I wonder how the enchantments handle the increased mass"
He nods to the other members as he passes them.
Sir Thorn wrote:"Ok, I think this is you. I am going into town."
Flushed from the six flights of stairs, Crow his thankful for the concealing nature of his helmet. "Won't need a gym membership living here"
Dropping his items into the small room Crow turns to Thorn. "Who would I talk to about acquiring gear? I haven't had the time to properly network."

Meg walks up to the front gate of the Haunt carrying two bags: a gear bag with the rest of the gear she was not already wearing and personal items. She brought light because she had very little to take away from her former hotel room where she resided. She drops one bag to hit the intercom button. She was unaware if the base's defenses had been keyed to her yet, and it was always polite to announce one presence.

"Yo, It's Meg. Let me in." She releases the button and chuckles. She half expected them to leave her out there for her flip attitude.

On the battlefield Vheld takes a moment to nod his approval of his entities. Such an effective tool against CS grunts. Should’ve thought of this years ago. Something to keep in mind. The shifter is happy to be patient from his perch as the others finish the job- it’s not like Vheld can’t escape at a moment’s notice- but he does take care to collect all of his minions well before the job is finished that way they can all bug out without delay. Once Lahz has retrieved the case and met up with Vheld the shifter nods. ”As you wish. More rifts will take more time but I suppose it’s a small price to pay for our security.” Vheld will comply- first burning most of his stored PPE to quickly open a rift to the Bear-nexus Lahz has indicated. He will then refill at the nexus, use the longer ritual to open a rift to the star of any one of dozens of uninhabited systems Vheld knows from his childhood in the Three Galaxies (or just the sun if that won’t work), and then launch the case into fiery death (after the video recording is set up). Once that’s done, Vheld repeats the process to take them back to MercTown. As the shifter has more important things to worry about than payment, he’ll happily take the lead of escorting the new recruits back to the Haunt and make sure they get past security un-smooshed. Upon seeing Thorn, Vheld nods and addresses the cyber-knight crisply. ”New recruits. I’ll leave them with you- this little job has kept me from my studies long enough.” Vheld then unceremoniously heads up to his room to bury his head in a book once again.

JiC D100: 1d100: [61] = 61
Telemechanics [101%]: 1d100: [48] = 48

Conditions: Telemechanics (0 ISP, Constant, 5ft, 101%), Mind-block Auto-Defense (0 ISP, Automatic), Sense Supernatural Evil & Magic Energy (1900ft if using magical or psionic powers, 900ft if NOT using powers), Radiate Nature [Weariness, Wariness] (100ft to psychics, 12ft to non-psychics), Roadrunner Power Armor (135/135 MB), Sixth Sense (Cannot be surprised by a sneak attack)

ISP: 231/231 ISP

Lahz and the robot crew drop the Spooks @ the Main Gate to Merctown before taking the large "Deck" back to their respective Airport Hangar. Riding back to the Haunt, he lets Ray drive as his mind wanders a bit. The Psi-Tech is thankful to be back in the city and between crises ...

Pulling up to the gate, he will wave at any of their newer members standing out front like vagabond panhandlers, "Come on in folks. Stay on the driveway so the drones don't shoot you and the minefield ... well just stay on the path." Ray then drives up to park in the Spooks' garage.

When folks arrive, Lahz will:1) intake new members so that the Haunt Security [Golems & Droids] do not attack them, 2) assign rooms to anyone who does not have one, and lastly, 3) distribute payments:
  • ● 1.2 Million: Mierin, Vheld, Ronan, Lahz, Wayne
    ● 900k: Orrucks, Meg, Lynch
    ● 200k: Crow -- Signing Bonus
    ● 1.1 M (Balance) -- Group Fund (repairs & Ammo people)
To any and all he offers the same warning/directions, "By and large folks, I have a lot of upgrades and installations on my plate at the moment. If you need me, I am usually going to be in the Garage or workshop. Alfred is a general assistance robot who handles most things around the Haunt. If you need food (cooked or ordered) ... or laundry or whatever ... he can handle that. Ray >>points<< is my Field Assistant ... He's not available for orders. The golems do not use radios, they are more in the chop-chop sword vein ... the Naruni droids have general directives to shoot ... basically if you like to dress up and change appearances <Lynch> ... be careful with that because we dont want random strangers walking the halls around here. Oh and there's Sir Thorn, and Vheld's demons ... basically Haunt security is tight. It lets us sleep easy, but don't mess around with it. I have a wife and kid who live here ... do not shoot them because you dont recognize them. But, if you hook up with a girl, or a guy, or a d-bee out at a Bar ... The Palace is a nice Hotel where we wont have to clean you date out of the rugs because they got turned into a fine mist wandering around the wrong corner ... "

He will also hand out radio frequencies for communications as needed.

OOC: Lahz will spend his time at the Haunt fixing gear and making Improvements on his Marauder Power Armor, and Roadrunner Power Armor

Lithium happy claps once the room assignments are issued and, of course, the money. Some may bulk at not getting enough, but Lithium was not about to turn her nose up at 900k in credits. It is more money than she was making as a Black Market Enforcer. Plus, when it was time to pay what she was making back to her on the Black Market, they would have to take notice of the amount of money she was making. It would not hurt her prospects if she ever gave up being a merc, but not today.

After Lahz was done giving instructions about the why's and how's of the tower, Lithium rose from her chair.

"Dibs on the room facing the moon rise," and she was off to go plant her flag. She needed to add a few things to the room, but she could order that from MercTown Intranet and have it dropped off at the Haunt.

Ronan walks up to his room on the upper floor and drops off his stuff, including the halberd Wayne tossed him. "Alright, time to replace that bike of mine then get sloshed. I'll ask V to check that thing later." Ronan considers with a smirk as he flips the collar on his jacket and turns back around and heads downstairs. If Ronan spots Mierin on her way too or from the their floor, Ronan will flag her down. "Hey, probably gonna go window shopping for a bike then getting drinks later. You in? I'm buying." Ronan offers. When Lahz gives his rousing speech, Ronan'll stop to listen, leaning on a nearby wall.
Lahz wrote: "By and large folks, I have a lot of upgrades and installations on my plate at the moment. If you need me, I am usually going to be in the Garage or workshop."
Ronan nods and raises a finger. "Got a question, you care if I get a pet? I'll make sure it's friendly or only stays in my room or the lower levels." Ronan asks and once that is answered, spins on his heels. "Well, I am going to scout for a new bike since those jerks destroyed my last one. Maybe do some pet shopping too. Anyone who wants to join me please do. Then I'm hitting a bar tonight. Drinks are on me if anyone shows up. Just radio me and I'll let ya know which pub I'm at."

Ronan states and then heads out to do some window shopping

Pointing seriously towards the scaled humanoid. "That thing is potty trained?" Crow looks dubiously at Orruck's massive muscles for a moment.
"Note to self, look into a reinforced doors so as to avoid him shitting on my bed."
Suddenly eager to leave and enticed by the promise of alcohol, Crow gives a nod to Lahz and follows behind Sir Wayne and Ronan. His armour jingling as he walks. "Where to first, gentlemen?"

Returning to the Haunt, Mierin dumps her gear in her room and comes downstairs to hear Lahz give the usual speech to the newcomers to the team. Wonder how long these guys will last. Mierin wonders to herself with a small smirk. It’s almost like we have a revolving door when it comes to hiring.
If Ronan spots Mierin on her way to or from their floor, Ronan will flag her down. "Hey, probably gonna go window shopping for a bike then getting drinks later. You in? I'm buying."
Mierin nods at Ronan and replies, “Sure. I could use a drink. I’ll be running some errands, so let me know where you end up.” Mierin didn’t have a lot of errands to run, but wanted to get some business at the bank done. Maybe I’ll pick up some new hardware - been a while since I’ve done that. Mierin thinks to herself.

Lithium had a thought and returned to the table. She always had an interest in piloting power armor. Sure, it would screw with her magical abilities, but those were negligible when using a railgun.

"Hey guys, how do I learn to pilot robots and power armor? I know the boss has a set, but I was wondering if I could branch out and get a flying suit to help with our operations. Broaden our capabilities when it's needed. I have no problem training as long as needed, and I'm a fast learner. So what say you?"

"True, but I'll be an infiltrator who can pilot robots." Meg smiled. It was a clever idea she liked. "Oh, don't worry about the armor. What I have in mind is unique and requires me, or us, to acquire a SAMAS. Then probably more money after that, so it's a project beginning."[/b]

Meg nodded her head. Lahz's ideas about creating another identity for the pilot intrigued her, and she already had a few ideas she could tap into. Why not confuse anyone eyeballing them about how many members were on the team?

The Spook Squad have earned themselves a quiet bit of downtime. (OOC: I assume y'all need 4-8 weeks to get everything you want done).

One morning, a package arrives addressed to Sir Thorn via Courier. There package is not magical, and psionic senses do not detect any mechanical mechanisms inside.

The sender's address note that it is "Outriders Armaments" from the Arms Bazaar.

Opening the box, Sir Thorn finds a nicely packed tin of cookies, along with an invitation.

"Sir Thorn

We have a logistics problem that requires the expertise of you and yours. We would love to speak to you in person about this opportunity.

We have a local contact waiting for you at the Job Market Cafe. His name is Wolf Whitaker. Should you be interested at this venture, please go to the cafe to collect him. He is expecting an opportunity of employment and he will serve as your local guide in this next venture.

Once you have Mr. Whitaker, please venture to the Mercenary Plaza in the hub. Go to this office 9832, it is on the top floor. Present this invitation to the attendant and we can commence the debriefing. We assure you the compensation package will be satisfactory.

Faithfully yours,

Turner Collins and Jacob Caine."

At the JMC:

Wolf Whitaker arrives at the cafe and approaches the counter. At the register is an old man. He takes a gander at Wolf, puts on his specs and says:

"Hi, I'm Cliff. Are you looking to eat or are you looking for work?

(OOC: Wolf is told to meet Fixer Jones for a possible assignment. Fixer Jones is expecting Wolf to make his own introduction.)
